After working for 19 years in a factory, Ed Hunt decided that he wanted to do something new, so he started repairing CB radios out of his home in the year 1966. Very soon, the demand was so high that he and his brother Bon decided to quit their jobs to open a retail store, Lafayette Radio, which provided sales and service of electronic components.

After five years, they opened retail stores in two new locations including Hillsdale and Jackson, Michigan. The stores continued business as E&B Electronics though the franchise of Lafayette Radio went out of business. By 1985, the small mom-and-pop shop was competing with big box stores such as Highland Appliance. Today, the business is owned and operated by Rod Carter, the grandson of Ed. Although the business has been through generations of name changes and advancements in technology, Carter's Custom Sound and Security is still committed to providing you with the best quality services for all of your audio and video needs.
